Here is a picture if I did this right if not here is the link_- Anyone? I have heard a clicking from the tank at night for about a month and have lost a dart fish, peppermint and cleaner shrimp. Caught this little guy with a stomola(?) in its hands night before last. Attachments:

I cant really tell what kind of shrimp it is.
but on other note most of what I have read a load clicking noise is ethir a pistol shrimp or mantis. pistol dont think whould take down the others thou. mantis diffently would.
if this guy was doning a number on your cleanup crew id put him in the sump

I agree. Probably not your culprit. Sounds like you have a small mantis somewhere

I had a peppermint and its lines were the other way on its body. As far as the one causing trouble- not sure it looks innocent but I caught it around 3 this morning and since that time no more clicking. I know that it eats stomalleas, seen one in its clutches headed behind the rocks. I let it go back in tank, I will be out of town for a few days going to Vegas with wife. I will recatch it and bring it in to Jo mars for final look later. From pics on line it looks like a red cave shrimp. If anyone can find something else out please post a link to the pic.

If it is clicking would it not be a mantis? Or do other things click too?

Both mantis and pistols click.

All I know is everytime I hear the clicking this guy is out in tank. The second it is hit with a light it starts running for the rocks, and no more clicking. I have yet to see anything else and been looking for over a month now.
Two nights ago saw my first bristle worm! I know big deal but tank is almost 9 months and have found so many neat creatures that I did not put in (on purpose). Yet had not been able to find a bristle.

Thats odd. My peppermints love snails too though. Shouldnt be clicking though. It doeant have the larger claw to be a pistol. Could it be the pistol is shooting at this shrimp then when it runs back in it stops? Pistols like pepperminta from what i hear. Lol the lines are different a little. It looks like it still has the thin lines. Is definately making me check out my peppermints

update, I have put two new peppermints in tank( from cleaner pack) and have not seen either one of them. Stomallas are disappearing also. If this guy is not the problem then I have a very small, quick or smart something in there.

I would guess you do.. if your hearing clicks it has to be a mantis or pistol. That in the pic is definately not either. Looks exactly like my peppermints to me.
If its taking out snails.. i would guess mantis..

Can't seem to find it. The shrimp in the pic is the only one that can be seen. Notice his lines are opposite of a peppermint.

Wish I had a good camera.. i would get a good pic of mine.. maybe its the pic but looks like they run longways to me.. i can see the darker bands you are talking about as well.. the peppermints from jomars are much lighter colored than mine... mine look just like this minus the darker bands (I believe).. odd looking thing.. but still not your culprit if you hear clicking. As far as I know.. nothing makes that noise other than the pistol or mantis. Could be a really tiny mantis.. I have seen them quite small but still make a racket.

Yea, I am not sure of the clicking, But seems odd that the two new Peppermints are missing and this little fellow is still in. What ever is killing the Peppermints are not bothering him.

very odd indeed. can you move him to sump and see if more snails go missing? then would know if it was him or somthing else

Yea, I could move him to sump. Its just that my sump is small and full. And that the snails my be declining on their own. They have gone through cycles before. So the only way to know if it is this felllow would be move him out of system completely and add a peppermint.

Don't know about any clicking, but that definitely looks like a peppermint to me. I've had two that looked like that
