I notice vertex sells everything zeo as well.. reactors etc.
Can we get deals on this as well since its vertex?
Also.. they sell a full kit with everything you need to get started on ebay. Do we have access to this?
The vertex setups are much cheaper.. and I am thinking of possibly going this route. Would love to try zeovit.. just not sure if my system is setup for it otherwise. I dont have a great skimmer. What prerequisites are needed for zeovit? I understand how it works and dosing etc. How often do you need to replace the media? Just wondering actual running cost of zeovit.

Also been doing a lot of reading on zeovit... I am not planning an sps tank.. so is it really worth it? I know it will run low nutrients in my tank, help with algae, nitrates, phos, etc.. and coral growth (is that for sofites/lps too?). Just weighing the options here.

Zeo isn't just for sps. It is for the LPS as well. They have specific Amino Acids for the LPS that are incredible. I had a sample size of it it a while back and the response to the LPS was immediate. I noted growth and feeding extension along with some color enhancements. The smple size lasted me about 2 weeks and that was enough for me to be convinced. Not everything has results right away, but the Amino Acids sure do.
The Amino Acids for LPS are the glucose for people. When you eat food your body can't use a steak, it has to break it down to sugars and proteins. That is what your muscles need. The Amino Acids are the final processed sugars and proteins needed for your coral. So instead of them breaking down everything in the water to get them they get a direct shot.
This is a supplement food for them not a replacement. But it does work wonders.
Some of the Vertex reactors will work for Zeo, some won't. You want to have a reactor for the ZeoVit media that has an aggitator in it. The ZeoVit media traps Ammonia and Phosphate from the water and provides a place for specific bacteria to grow that break down the bad stuff and make it into coral food. During this process you will need to occasinaly aggitage the media to release a mulm from the media. This is done by moving the media up and down. This action also helps release any detritus that may have settled on the media.
The upfrot cost of the ZeoVit is the biggest part. However once the initial setup is established it is actaully pretty cost effective to maintain. The basic 4 are not very expensive and the weekly 5% water change is really not a big deal. After you have a well established low nutrient system, 3-6months, you will start supplementing some of the extra stuff for enhancements to color, or help growth. Whatever direction you want to take it.

As for the E-bay deals, just shoot the Undertaker a note about pricing on a starter set-up complete with reactor, and the basic 4.
From the advise of the ZeoExperts on ZeoVitUSA though before you start using Zeo there are several parameters that need to be stable before you start. I reccommend an hour or so on their forum. They help you pick the right dosing schedule and amounts based on your system, and they are really really good.

Oops forgot one question. The ZeoVit Zeolithes are replaced on a 6 week schedule. I have a total combined total volume of about 90 gallons. So I only use about 3/4 a bag of media every 6 weeks. The ZeoVit stones are not very expensive at all less than 25$ a bag (1 liter)

Yeah I read the zeovit forums all day yesterday... the vertex do have the plunger..
I saw that schedule...
My question really is... is it for me though... I mostly keep softies.. but I would also like to keep my tank very clean.. right now I have cyano issues.. i assume it would be cheaper to cure this with flow, etc than zeo.
Just researching... hmm.. very interesting...
What is the smallest setup you could do zeo on? I should hear back from an amazing job this week.. if I get it.. I thought about setting up my 37g that I cant sell for sps only...
