I'm going to be buying light's in a month or so after the salt water is ready and I was wondering what kind of lighting everyone is using in there big tanks?
My tank is 120/125 gal. We will be putting Coral/live rock in the tank along with fish after is all said and done with so I'm really just trying to get a good idea on what I should get. Nitro store gave us an idea on what to get but not sure I want to spend one thousand on lighting just yet. Any good ideas?

From what i've read on here and other places t5-ho should be a good start.

Well from reading lastnight and sending some emails. T5-Ho is great if your only going to be keeping soft coral in the tank.
The Metal Halide lighting is the best for hard coral.
But thats just what I'm hearing and reading.
I'm new to the salt water tank area and I'm just trying to get a good feel on what is best for a tank my size.

Yep, that's the limiting factor I was talking about.

I have t5ho lighting on my tank with plenty of sps corals and they are doing just fine. There are lots of people that keep sps with t5 lighting. It mainly depends on the fixture you buy. Make sure it has individual reflectors and active cooling to keep the bulbs cool and you will have no problem keeping whatever you want.
