that sucks to hear, so far i guess ive been lucky with my 6, they are VERY fat and seem healthy, and ill be honest, im not a great fish keeper, i have never tested the parameters of my water..... i do about a 20% change once a month, and only add water when its 2-3 gallons low (35 gallon tank) the jack dempseys tank mates are: 6 serpae tetra's some neons, two or three kuhli loaches, and possibly a couple others, i cant really remember, the dempseys are almost big enough to put into my 125 gallon tank as soon as they can eat the small sinking pellets i bought for them, right now the pellots wont fit in their mouth's

Both of mine were fat and happy too. Growing like weeds. Woke up one morning and he was dead.

Do you have any ideas of what happened, any signs of aggression?

I think aggression is what it was. The flowerhorns are in that tank and they are getting big quick. I think they are big enough to move into the 180.

thought id update, all 6 of my electric blue dempseys are doing great, infact the 6 regular dempseys are doing great also, they are around 2" or so, it takes forever for these things to grow, im used to the texas cichlids and oscar's they grew so fast.

i spoke too soon, went to my basement today to find that one of the electric blue's was dead, kinda sad it was floating on the top of the tank, all the others seem fine, but one has now died.

Yeh, it always seems when things are going well is when something bad happens. Sorry you lost one.

That's why I don't take pictures of or talk about my tanks.

im down to three electric blue jack dempseys now, two of them dissappeared and i have no clue what happened to them, there are no dead fish laying on the ground under or around the tank, and there are no floaters on the top of the tank.... im wondering if my large pleco's somehow ate them, i really dont have a clue. the 6 non-electric blue JD's are doing great though.
