I bought a couple of Juliodochromis ("julies from Lake Tanganyika") about four months ago and put them in a 55 gallon tank with some Johanni's and some Convicts. I made them a pyramid cave out of PVC pipe, silicone, and gravel. The julies took up residence there and seem to be pretty shy most of the time. Just recently I noticed that they seemed to be more seclusive and eating less. My first thought was "Great! I am about to kill more fish!" but lo' and behold I went to feed them this morning and saw a couple of odd shadows in the PVC caves. Those shadows turned out to be baby julies. I was pleased to know that my adult julies were not dying but I was absolutely tickled to see those babies. Very cool stuff.
