the best way I could do is to re-aquascape......take out most of the rock and then catch him as long as you don't have a lot to take out.......other wise they make fish traps but ya better get you a case of beer to wait with while your watch him swim into the trap....LOL

right around feeding time put a little bit of food in the net and try to lure him in with that... you would have to be very patient and not feed the rest of the tank at the same time but it seems like it would be worth a try to me

try cleaning a 1 liter mt dew or pepsi bottle depending on drink of choice and then filling it with your tank water and adding some small deveined shrimp into the bottle and putting it in the bottom of the tank. Dont leave it for to long (time depending on tank size) because of ammonia from the shrimp breakdown.
You could also try some nori or other food depending on what he normally eats and what will stay in the bottle.
you might catch the wrong fish but you can always try again.

Have you tried a small trout hook and a piece of shrimp?

Don't do it. Way to dangerous especially if the fish heads into your rock work you might face a massive rock collapse and kill your fish. It takes time to catch damsel that's why I always warn people away from them as a first fish.

Now Ron, if he uses 30lb test and a large bait cast reel on a ugly stick for salt , then he should be able to hold him off. Just kidding, I didn't think about the rocks.
I have read about putting a large piece of plexi in the corner of tank with a hole drilled in it. This creates a triangle area, then feed that area until the devil comes through the hole. Then put a net in front of hole and start scoping with second one.

I had a domino damsel that was that way. I thought I was going to have to tear the tank apart to get him. If you can stand it get up in the middle of the night after the lights have been out for a long time. Take a bright flashlight and a net. Spot him and scoop him up. Usually at night they are much easier to catch. They get confused and move around much less. I spent half a week trying to catch my little bugger, I tried traps, netting chasing him trying to wear him out. All I was doing was stressing everything out including me. I tried the night time catch and caught him with no trouble at all. It was so easy. I thought I was never going to get this guy out. Then after catching him I put him in a bucket until next morning and took him in and traded him out.
Just my experiance, it might work for you.
