$2? That is less then we pay per polyp!!! That's less than wholesale and that's also why you pay more locally, it's good to have a friend in the hobby as things grow you can trade back and forth and give each other deals. However IMO continued wide market non wholesale selling below current market values like this will only devalue coral to the point that no one cares about it's needs or learning how to keep it. If it dies they will just buy more. That last part is not directed at any one here it's still a followup to the partial rant I went on last week about the guy wanting cheaper frags than the two plus inch toadstools I had marked at $10 Good news to this story though I marked up the price and sold it to a guy yesterday who loved it and had not seen one that size any cheaper lanywhere lol.

Awesome ron, and I agree.
Yes $2 a frag roughly.. he has a massive supply of many different things... he started bidding on some coral on ebay actually... $5 a frag... but shipping was like $30 something... he found out the guy lived 30 mins away.. so he started picking them up.. they became friends.. and so on.. so he gets $5 frags for just about anything... he got an open brain the size of my fist for $5.. he gives me a good price because I got him in to coral...
Rons point is a good point.. and makes sense... though.. in a way i can see both sides of it. Coral being cheap would get it more spread and growing in many tanks.. if they had the knowledge to keep it alive then this would actually prosper the life of these organisms and spread tank raised coral much further. So higher price, less people buy it, but are probably more knowledgeable. Or lower price, more people buy it, its spread, but some may be lost to knowledge. To me, it is more of a knowledge issue than a price issue. Especially since even the most knowledgable have tank issues. Thats what this group was founded on, to spread the knowledge.
Edit:
I am still patiently awaiting the coral... and hope it made it out of CO quick.... they got snow today.. shoulda went out yesterday on one of the last shipments.. and should be here today..
Will take pics once i get them and they open... and i find my digital camera cable lol... corals are hard to take pics of with an iphone :-(

agreed, the price issue is a fine line that all industies have to maintain. We all love to get a great deal but if everyone gets one then yours is no longer great it is just the norm. Anyone see this in Calf. (in a version) the housing bubble was partly because of this. People finnally stopped buying the outragous priced houses and prices dropped, then no one would buy and sells didn't want to cut prices so banks went after houses and here we are. Lots of overpriced repo homes.

Corals are here.. they ended up getting shipped to my moms address due to a paypal error.. so i had to drive over there.. fedex guy got there 2 minutes after I did... All are in the main tank for now (may put them in the frag for growth).. and the purple deaths were opened up within minutes..
