It's been running for over 4 years. The only things that stayed the same is the tank itself and the substrate. It doesn't look the same from one month to the next lol.

I got my drop checker installed today. Getting everything ready for the co2 which I won't be able to get until monday. Got a few plants in the mail yesterday. Got my bylxa japonica but I'm worried about it. It is a delicate plant that doesn't ship well and it pretty much requires co2 to do well. Also got some didiplis diandra. I might lose it as well because of going so long without co2. However I'm trying to grow a little bit emersed also.

Got my co2 tanks back today!!!! After adjusting the bubble counters I'm at or near 30ppm co2. Also decided to bring my shrimp tank up to par. It's a 29gal with 110w CF lighting. I got the co2 drop checker in the green. I've always had problems with green water in this tank and was getting it again. Hooked up my magnum filter with a micron cartridge and using a little diatom powder got it cleared up a good bit. I still need to figure out a aquascape for both tanks. At this point I just want the plants growing healthy again. I got my eye on some new plants on aquabid that are gonna need good conditions to do good. I'm considering adding rummy nose tetra to the 29gal tank. I have two small schools of them in separate tanks. Combining them would make a awesome display. Few fish school as well as rummys.

Well it's been almost a week since I started co2. The plants are starting to bounce back. I'm having a few issues though. I'm having trouble getting the co2 in the 40gal just right. The drop checker isn't turning green till evening. Could be a good sign that the plants are increasing their growth rates, using more co2. However i don't have many fast growing plants in there yet that would do that. Could be my crappy DIY reactor also. The shrimp tank is taking off nicely. I had to trim the hygro yesterday. The Rotala macrandra 'Green' is showing some nice color The Heteranthera zosterifolia aka stargrass has more than doubled in size in a week. It has went from about the size of a quarter to about 3". I can't wait for it to take off! It's a beautiful plant. Still having green water issues in the 29gal as you can see in the pic.

Done some major triming. Removed several slower growing plants. There still is no "aquascape" to speak of. Just plants growing in a tank. Removed a lot of plants from the 29gal shrimp tank. Getting much faster plant growth. Almost too fast. Had to trim a ton of stems from the hygro, but it's a insanely fast grower.Blyxa japonica is doing awesome. So is the didplis diandra. I said I wouldn't do it this time but my OCD is getting the best of me. My plant collectoritis is kicking in again. I'm trying not to get as bad as last time when I had over 60 species lol. I expect to have 5 - 6 more species in by the end of the week. Should have downoi, hygro "sunset", ludwigia brevipes, polygonum "sao paulo", lobelia cardinalis "small form", and limnophila sessiflora aka "ambulia".

Got a TON of new plants today. I'm not even sure of what everything is yet. Traded with a local collector from huntington. I know for sure I got downoi, ludwigia brevipes, HC, Staurogyne sp. ‘Porto Velho’, Lagarosiphon madagascariensis, sunset hygro, ambulia, and a few others. Also got some polygonum "sau paulo" and dwarf lobelia cardinalis in the other day. If that isn't enough I have Bacopa Colorata, Limnophila mini Vietnam, Mayaca Fluviatilis, narrow leaf java fern, Ludwigia Arcuata, Hygrophila pinnatifida, and Nechamandra alternifolia on the way! Anyway here is pics of the tanks as of 4/29/11

CO2 should help. What kind of algae does yours have? The type it is can point to a cause.

Sounds like hair algae. IIRC it's caused by excess iron. Might want to increase water changes. I wish siamese algae eaters were easier to get right now. They would take care of it.

ya i am planning on doing more water changes just need to get the ro unit up and running and find a place to put it. I will pick up more plants also i think that would help absorb the iron too since i will be attaching the co2 up also.

I can give you some fast growers if you need some. I have some hygrophila polysperma (both normal and sunset) and asian ambulia. Can't get much faster growers than those and they will help with excess nutrients. Let me know.

Just another weekly update lol. The 40g hasn't changed much. The 29g is coming along nicely. Hopefully in another month my glosso foreground will be grown in good.

As of today The 40g. I'm not happy one bit with the looks. Still just plants in a tank. They are growing well though. the 29g. I keep having co2 issues still.

Tanks as of today. The 29 is at the point that if it grows out any more it won't look good. So a major trim is in order. Pretty much same story with the 40g.
