I have recently started using Purple up to make the coraline algae in my tank but ever since i started using it, it has caused a brown like algae on everything. is this normal? when will the coraline start to appear?

are you cycling your tank. mine is covered in brown algea right now as it cycles but the turbos i added are making nice work of it. i was also thinking of adding some of that to make some coraline grow.

Careful with that stuff, it's ok to use for the first bottle but after that you need to change to another form at Ca and Alk supplimentation. If you want coraline to grow, buy some nice coraline covered LR and insure your Ca and Alk are in the safe zones. Also run a lot a water flow. Coraline algae spreads by the current that's why you tend to see it more in areas of your tank where water flow is greater. You can also take a nice coraline covered rock and either beat it into rubble or use a NEW wire brush to scrub off the coraline over the tank. Trust me it works and it's cheaper than PU there's something not quite right about that stuff for long term usage IMO.

I used a brush and sraped some off into tank by PH and now it is growing nicely. No additives.

i had bought a little 4inch rock to scrape the corraline off of but once i got it in tank for a few i grew attached to it now i have to get a different one. its a small piece of tonga which looks alot like a acro just its definitely rock now (no pores or any grooves) it has a bunch of little pathways and what not. but the corraline on it is about is thick as a #2 pencil lead and deep purple, so i just broke a nickel size piece off of it and grinded it.... thats been a few weeks still no growth.... patience patience patience lol.... i wish it would hurry but i know it will come sooner or later.
its not the only rock with corraline either. one of the other ones is my center piece, i would show a pic but the snails are currently eating the algae on it. almost looks like new again but still waiting.... btw they both came from berts... none of the live rock i currently have has came from jo-mars.... i always spend my money on everything else there before getting rocks lol best thing i get at berts is the rock haha
