Thought of posting the great growth of caps I got from Phil. Notice how the caps now reach the digitata at upper left. Colors have greatly improved (big change on the grape caps). January: April (there are actually 4 caps on this pic -- the orange, grape, green (under the grape) and the Tyree (upper right tip of grape)):

Looks good that's why people like caps, they are a bit more unforgiving than acros and the growth is quick in most cases.

What type of bulb are you using? I'm using a 250w phoenix and four T5s.

I like the looks of caps but to me they just take up too much room that I could use for other things.

I was actually wondering how much light and flow they needed. I was thinking of trying to do a few shelves in the lower corners of the tank.

It will depend on the cap. I have noticed the orange do well in moderate light, the greens seem to do better in lower light and the purple like mod to high light. Flow needs to be moderate around 40 times turnover should work well.
